This review is from: Yakima HighRoller Upright Bike Mount (Misc.) I bought two of these just in time for a 360 mile round trip to Santa Barbara. I was a little nervous because I didn't have a chance to test it out before the trip. The rack was installed on Yakima round cross bars. Installation is straight forward and I had no problems. The bike is a 24" road bike and the front part of the rack grabbed the front wheel with no problems. It takes less than 60 seconds to get the bike on the rack and locked down. I had the car up to 90mph on highway and the bike did not move. I kept a close eye on it through the sunroof. I brought a little step-stool (I'm 5'8") to give me a little more height when putting it up and taking it down - but that's just how it's going to be if you have a roof bike rack. This rack is NOT locked to the roof rack (you CAN lock the bike to the bike rack but you need to buy an SKS core) - to do this you need to buy TWO additional items, the SKS lock core(s) AND lock HOUSING (which I didn't know). This review is from: Yakima HighRoller Upright Bike Mount (Sports) Works great. Easy to mount and un mount bike. Great rack and worth the money. This review is from: Yakima HighRoller Upright Bike Mount (Sports) I love this bike rack. It is easy to use. Before buying this i did a lot of looking online. I saw reviews that said that their bike moved around a lot and it looked unsafe etc. I am happy to report i have no such issues. I have a road bike with 700x23 tires. It holds my road bike in place perfectly. The only movement i can see is with the truck and no the bike its self. That being said i was kind of disappointed when i went to try and install this. I had to buy the Yakima might mounts. These where not recommend thus i did not even think about it. The picture also lead me to believe that the mounts that came with it where the might mounts. This is not the case and i had to buy the $40 add on mounts. Also something to think about. This rack does not come with the SKS lock cores. If you want to be able to lock the bike rack to your cross bars and lock the bike to the rack you have to buy these. I was very disappointed that i had to pay a good amount for this rack, the "high... Read more |
